벤저민 프랭클린 Benjamin Franklin (1706년 1월 17일 ~ 1790년 4월 17일)

 미국의 "건국의 아버지"(Founding Fathers) 중 한 명이자 미국의 초대 정치인 중 한 명이다. 그는 특별한 공적 지위에 오르지 않았지만, 프랑스 군(軍)과 동맹에서 중요한 역할했고, 미국 독립에서 중추였다.

 

 그는 계몽사상가 중 한 명으로서, 유럽 과학자들에게 영향을 받았으며 피뢰침, 다초점 렌즈 등 발명하였다.
